DfE response about 'missing' LA schools category

FYI, I wrote the DfE and asked about this point. The response was:

You are right that information about Local Authority schools is currently missing from that section - apologies if that is misleading. We are currently working to produce more comprehensive content that covers all types of schools. In the meantime Directgov has an article which covers this subject and which you may find useful .

So apparently we are expecting the new (unchanged?) LA school information?

Thanks for doing this Tracy. It is hardly credible that officials at the DFE accidentally forgot about the biggest group of schools in the country. They should be ashamed.

Given that the DfE find it very easy to continuously update the website with information about Free Schools and Academies I agree with Fiona that it's hardly credible that they need time to produce this information - which already existed on the DCSF website. The DfE website has become simply a marketing tool for Academies and Free Schools which is eradicating by stealth any mention of community schools and the local authorities which maintain them. Don't expect this information to appear any time soon - they are absolutely shameless.

So, one dull page on the DirectGov website is supposed to suffice! And even this contains links to further info about academies (but not community schools). Readers are even given a link containing advice on choosing an independent school. There's one small picture of two children (one of which is fading into the background). Compare and contrast this boring offering with the links, testimonials and other puff about academies and free schools on the DfE site.
